Moontower Intern (Remote, 5–10 hrs/week, $25/hr)
Work directly with Kris Abdelmessih on a mix of creative, analytical, and educational projects.
Flexible hours. Mentorship included. Bonus potential.
Moontower is an evolving, often wide-ranging mix of writing, software, and education rooted in trading and derivatives. I’m Kris Abdelmessih—former options market maker and hedge fund portfolio manager, co-founder of Moontower.ai, writer of the Moontower newsletter, and an educator determined to help people make better decisions by breaking down or re-framing complex ideas into useful comparisons.
I’m looking for a resourceful, conscientious intern who’s excited to learn and build. Your responsibilities can span a wide range — from editing educational content including videos, prototyping visual dashboards, driving growth campaigns, developing merch, researching companies or topics, coding/deploying simple games.
This role is perfect for a college student or curious young person with a mix of technical and creative instincts. You probably don’t know how to do all the tasks that will be required but you’re confident you can get up to speed quickly (not because you’re a delusional Tony Robbins positivist but because you have a track record of quick competence).
You’re coachable, take pride in being reliable, and bring energy to whatever you touch. The best fit is someone who expects to challenge the frontier of their existing know-how — someone who can operate with minimal task guidance. I often have a strong sense of what I want to convey, but I’m open-minded and happy to experiment on the how.

What You'll Do
Work will be diverse and sometimes loosely defined. You’ll need to be comfortable figuring things out and moving rough ideas into sharp deliverables. Example projects include:
- Designing slide decks or visual explainers for trading education
- Helping develop games and interactive tools that teach derivatives concepts
- Improving marketing workflows (e.g. newsletter automation, distribution channels)
- Sourcing and mocking up Moontower merch
- Editing short video clips for content promotion
- Researching businesses, markets, or niche tools that support our ecosystem, or IP and compliance requirements
- Cleaning and visualizing data in Excel or Python
About You
- You’re reliable, organized, and love figuring stuff out
- You don’t need constant supervision—you like having autonomy and learning by doing. You don’t need to be spoon-fed and relish fleshing out and executing on a loosely defined task.
- You are comfortable pushing forward asynchronously using written communication or Loom videos as needed to minimize the need to have a call or meeting. Good meetings are immensely valuable, but most meetings are not good because they don’t need to be meetings (if our team is functionally literate) and are therefore very expensive.
- You take feedback well and care about getting better
What You Can Expect from Me
You’ll get my respect and mentorship and, if you are the right fit, I will enthusiastically promote you in your endeavors as you build your primary career or life path.
If you show up like an owner for the hours you give me — you’re resourceful, proactive, and generous with your effort—then I’ll be generous in return. Bonuses are possible for excellence. Few things make me happier than rewarding people who deliver beyond expectations.
